Coordinator, E-Health Program

SUMMARY:
  Tidewater Community College invites applications for a grant-funded, full-time, faculty administrator position. The Coordinator provides operational leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of a statewide E-Health Career Studies Certificate program that is one of the strategies of the federally funded Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Act grant: Virginia RETHINKS Health Sciences Education (hereafter referred to as the DOLTAA Grant). This three-year grant was awarded to Tidewater Community College to administer on behalf of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

The Coordinator reports to the Provost of the Virginia Beach Campus. The principal purpose of this position is, in cooperation with VCCS faculty throughout the state, to design and implement a new academic program that will assist targeted students with entry into the health professions career field, ensure successful implementation of curriculum at all VCCS colleges, and evaluate the success of the curriculum’s implementation.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide operational leadership and management of the E-HLTH programming of the DOLTAA grant.
2. In collaboration with health science faculty, establish both credit and non-credit curricula that meet assist students across Virginia with entry into health professions.
3. In collaboration with the academic deans, coordinate the hiring of teaching faculty to support the project’s courses, ensuring that they have current knowledge in the subject area and have appropriate credentials.
4. Promote and maintain excellence in teaching and learning for the curriculum ensuring that best practices in online instruction are incorporated.
5. In collaboration with the faculty and the grant director, assess the program annually, ensure that students are accurately advised as to course and program requirements, and develop a credit and non-credit class schedule, as necessary.
6. Foster an environment of innovation and creativity that encourages faculty and staff to take initiative and to pursue new strategies for instruction and curriculum development.
7. Lead and coordinate the activities of the health science faculty to facilitate the design and implementation of the new curriculum.
8. Supervise assigned staff, providing the leadership that will foster a highly motivated, productive team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Demonstrated knowledge of education and training including course and program development, preferably in an institution of higher education.
2. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership of a complex project that involves multiple partners.
3. Demonstrated ability to deliver quality, online coursework in higher education.
4. Demonstrated experience and expertise in managing a major initiative that has required: a) collaboration with a significant number of external partners; b) supervision of assigned staff and management of a highly effective working team; c) strong oral and written presentations; and d) organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to manage a budget.
6. Ability to interpret and apply college policies and procedures; ability to resolve issues, fostering mutual respect and tolerance for varying points of view.
7. Demonstrated ability to evaluate curriculum development and student success in a curriculum.
8. Collegiate teaching experience, preferably in a community college.
9. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
