Director of Continuing Education
CAMPUS: Regional Workforce Development Center - Suffolk
SUMMARY:
  Tidewater Community College invites applications for a restricted, full-time, faculty administrator position - Director of Continuing Education for the college’s Regional Workforce Development Center. This position leads the design, manages the delivery and analyzes the performance of non-credit education programs to meet a variety of needs across South Hampton Roads. These programs include both continuing education for professional development and personal enrichment courses which may be offered at TCC campuses and other convenient locations throughout the community. The Director of Continuing Education reports to the Associate Vice President for Workforce and Continuing Education.

The position supports the overarching goals of TCC Workforce Development to market, advance, develop and implement continuing education programs that meet the professional and personal needs of the Hampton Roads community.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Manage and administer the development and delivery of open enrollment continuing education programs to be responsive to professional and personal interests.
2. Forge partnerships with community organizations and associations to identify continuing education needs for open enrollment curricula and to design and deliver programs to meet these needs. Identify and contract as appropriate for classroom facilities.
3. Develop and implement a business plan to strategically position TCC's continuing education activities in South Hampton Roads. Included in this plan will be continuous improvement criteria to systematically evaluate and modify continuing education program activities.
4. Develop and implement a marketing plan to promote enrollment in continuing education courses and to generate ideas for future activities. Coordinate with other Division team members to design and distribute marketing materials.
5. Develop and implement a budget to effectively price continuing education activities and for meeting college revenue expectations, within the guidelines provided.
6. Recruit, supervise and evaluate instructional staff and ensure that all proper record-keeping procedures are in place to meet CEU and other audit criteria.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Demonstrated knowledge of the development and delivery of continuing education courses and services as outlined in the position’s functional responsibilities as outlined above.
2. Demonstrated ability to conduct long-range planning relative to continuing education services.
3. Demonstrated ability to coordinate programs with a wide range of college faculty and staff, as well as community leaders
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to set priorities and manage conflicting priorities
5. Demonstrated experience in hiring and supervising assigned staff and participating as part of an effective work team.
6. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver quality oral and written presentations
7. Demonstrated skill in negotiating and communicating effectively while establishing cooperative working relationships with a diverse array of individuals.
8. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
