Tidewater Community College seeks applications to fill two positions in the new Regional health Professions Center located on the Virginia Beach Campus. These positions will integrate the use of medical simulation as a fundamental teaching strategy to improve the clinical competency of graduates and facilitate advanced skill development. Maintaining the functionality of the simulation equipment, PACS system, information technology (IT), and associated audio-visual (AV), equipment in the RHPC, working collaboratively with faculty in using simulation to support teaching and learning. |
| FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Simulation and Equipment Support Technicians will provide the technical expertise to support install, program, update, repair, and maintain the division’s medical simulators used in the Regional Health Professions Center. Work collaboratively with the division faculty on use and advanced development of the digital recording and use of simulation activities in support of the teaching and learning process. These positions will also work with the division faculty to incorporate the appropriate simulation scenarios needed by the faculty for their courses. Finally, the positions will coordinate the ordering of all equipment and supplies to keep the simulators and associated equipment operational. |
| REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: |
| |
Knowledge of the healthcare field in order to be able to understand and assist division faculty in the use of simulators. Knowledge of medical simulation technology. Ability to work with medical simulation, PACS, AV, and IT equipment. Skill in configuration of simulation software. Ability to communicate effectively at a technical, as well as end-user, level, both orally and in writing. Ability to provide training to faculty. Working knowledge of personal computers, application software, operating systems, AV, and IT equipment. Ability to diagnose and perform minor electronic and/or mechanical repairs on the simulators. Ability to quickly learn the METI brand of simulator products, the software used to operate the simulators, and the PACS system. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students. Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively. Ability to lift and move equipment in excess of 50 lbs. Ability to climb a 10 foot ladder. Ability to work independently utilizing critical thinking skills. |
| PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: |
| |
Associate degree in the health care field or Associate degree in computer science, information systems technology, or engineering with work experience in the medical field preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and experience. Experience working in higher education, preferably with experience in a community college. Experience in working with medical equipment, simulation, or other computer-aided equipment in a training environment. Experience in working with educational technology equipment and software. |

Commensurate with qualifications. Position is in Pay Band four. The College offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. |
