TITLE:
Administrative and Office Specialist III (Information Desk Supervisor)
CAMPUS: Norfolk
SUMMARY:
  This position will manage the overall operation of the campus Student Center Information Desk.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  The Information Desk Supervisor will assure the delivery of campus information, visitor services, front desk reception, and telephone services for the student center. Responds to general inquiries and makes referrals as needed. Provides supervision for part-time student workers. Provides high volume scheduling for room reservations, as well as assistance with special events. Ensures observation of TCC and department policies and procedures while at the information desk. Works within a team and assists with projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Ability to plan, organize, and effectively schedule work assignments, room assignments, and student activities. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing as demonstrated in the use of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and business document formats. Demonstrated ability to use intermediate functions in word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet research, and email software applications proficiently. Knowledge of student information databases. Supervision, collaboration, and teamwork skills. Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform work assignments as directed. Ability to understand and apply VCCS and College procedures and policies, and explain those policies to the public and employees. Ability to take direction, work independently, prioritize work assignments, anticipate deadlines, and respond to changing priorities as needed. Knowledge of and ability to provide effective customer services techniques. Ability to learn and retain information from a variety of sources. Experience in a high volume customer service environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Customer service in a higher education environment. Public relations experience. Previous supervisory experience. Associate Degree in business, communication, or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
HOURS:
  Ability to work flexible hours to include some nights and weekends is required.
SALARY:
  Commensurate with qualifications. Position is in Pay Band three. The College offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. FUNDING STATUS: This is a full-time restricted funded position.
