A new position for the Center for Military and Veterans Education (CMVE), the Project Manager – Military Academics supports the Director of Military Academic Programs in the management and coordination of for-credit academic programs specifically targeted to military-related students (defined as active duty, reserves, National Guard, veterans and their family members, and military associated civil service employees) and DoD-related Commands and organizations. The position involves regular collaboration with TCC District Office staff, academic and student service deans, faculty, and students to design and deliver high quality, innovative, and flexible courses, degrees and certification programs for military-related students. |

The Project Manager – Military Academics will provide direct support for CMVE development and execution of grants and contracts related to delivery of academic programs to military-related students, including the Navy College Program Distance Learning Partnership (NCPDLP), GoArmyEd, MyCAA, and other contract programs developed in collaboration with specific DoD-based organizations in order to meet the education and job-related credentialing needs of those organizations and their military-related personnel. Supports and collaborates in the execution and management of TCC participation in Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC). Provides direct support to the Director, Military Academic Programs in researching and developing new certificate programs, designed specifically to capture and maximize use of ACE-recommended credits for specified DoD communities, and working the proposed programs through the TCC Curriculum Committee and Chief Academic Officer approval processes. Collaborates with and trains CMVE academic advising and counseling staff regarding project curricular, contract, and grant-related policy and procedural issues. Analyzes, processes, prepares, and tracks project-related data. Develops and coordinates the delivery of placement test preparatory resources in order to facilitate greater student success. Coordinates the delivery of developmental courses for grant and contract programs. Coordinates with CMVE instructional design staff regarding course development across multi-modal delivery formats in order to satisfy DOD client needs. By direction, collaborates with academic divisions and faculty regarding course and program development as well as articulations which facilitate successful programmatic delivery for military-related contracts and grants. Completes development and management of military-related academic tutoring delivery and faculty-veteran-based mentorship programs. Develops and implements faculty development training regarding military-related student issues for TCC faculty. Collaborates on the CMVE marketing plan and the development of marketing materials. |
| REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: |

Knowledge and understanding of the community college mission. Knowledge and understanding of education-related initiatives conducted by the Department of Defense. Knowledge and ability to interpret Servicemembers Opportunity College (SOC) policies and procedures and apply them to SOC participants. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret and apply college policies and procedures, especially as they relate to SOC contracts, military transcripts, awarding of college credit, and the development of degree roadmaps. Knowledge of the awarding of appropriate credit for Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) and Navy Rates and Ratings as recommended by the ACE Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services. Knowledge of all armed services’ tuition assistance programs and veteran’s benefits for students. Knowledge of and ability to interpret military transcripts to include SMART and AARTS documents. Knowledge of Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) and Navy Rates and Ratings. Demonstrated experience and leadership in program development and project management. Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and anticipate and meet deadlines. Ability to accurately perform detail work with numerical data utilizing prescribed procedures. Ability to analysis data and apply professional principles and standards for recordkeeping. Ability to research, investigate, analyze, reconcile, and evaluate data. Demonstrated computer competency with data entry, database, spreadsheet, and word processing programs. Demonstrated competency with electronic mail, and Internet search and navigation. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use proper business telephone and customer service etiquette. Demonstrated ability to communicate with a diverse public and to handle complex situations under pressure. Skilled in problem solving techniques and demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment to resolve customer related issues. Demonstrated ability to work on a one-to-one basis with students. Ability to interpret and apply Virginia Community College System (VCCS), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and college policies and procedures as they relate to student services and faculty support. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite in the preparation of multiple types of correspondence, reports, databases, spreadsheets, client tracking, email, and routine office procedures. |
| PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: |
| |
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in counseling, education, education administration, social sciences or equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Knowledge of and ability to analyze, interpret, and monitor grants and contractual agreements. Knowledge of student information systems and the ability to establish student records, enroll students, attach students to SOC contracts and track student account information. Ability to communicate and interact frequently with internal and external clients using both oral and written communications skills to discuss grant-related issues, SOC processes, curriculum development, academic programs, and/or issues impacting higher education. Knowledge of TCC credit and non-credit courses, programs, registration procedures, events and mission. Experience working in a high volume, fast-paced, multiple responsibility, customer service educational services office at a community college or university. Prior military experience or military spouse. |
