TITLE:
General Administrative Coordinator I (Special Projects Coordinator)
CAMPUS: Norfolk
SUMMARY:
  This position will provide support to the Academic Divisions and complete campus-based administrative projects that lead to the achievement of campus goals.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  The Special Projects Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring completion of a variety of campus-based projects to include Dual Enrollment, emergency management support, space allocation and management, and other campus-wide initiatives. Contributes to the successful operations of the campus and advance campus and college strategic goals and objectives. Creates, analyzes, and maintains a variety of campus databases and queries Student Information Systems (SIS) for reports. Serves as a resource on TCC, VCCS, and department and campus policies and procedures. Resolves issues in a proactive and positive manner working collaboratively with the faculty, staff, and administration. Performs complex administrative and leadership tasks, works in a complex environment that requires multitasking, and works with all campus and college departments and personnel. Assigned projects may include fiscal, human resources, procurement, enrollment, data collection, and other strategic initiatives necessary to administer efficient and effective academic divisions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Demonstrated proficiency in using the Internet, e-mail, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, and InfoPath). Advanced knowledge in managing and querying data in databases to produce reports. Ability to create and edit business correspondence with knowledge of correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Ability to synthesize data from various sources and produce specific summaries and reports. Ability to interpret and apply TCC, VCCS, FERPA, and college policies and procedures as they relate to the campus to include human resource policies and procedures (TCC, VCCS, and DHRM). Skills in researching, resolving, and documenting questions and issues, as well as demonstration of sound decision-making skills as they relate to the campus, in conjunction with the ability to work without constant direct supervision in an intense environment. Ability to manage complex tasks such as campus-wide room schedules. Ability to create, organize, and maintain physical and electronic file systems. Knowledge of appropriate methods of ordering, organizing, and maintaining office supply inventory. Ability to manage budgets and procure items following college policies and procedures. Ability to provide appropriate and efficient office management by analyzing office processes and recommending modifications to improve efficiency and effectiveness as well as train, schedule, and supervise staff. Ability to maintain a high level of detail and confidentiality as well as provide a professional office, e-mail, and telephone presence. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with a positive demeanor and ability to multi-task. Ability to establish rapport with faculty, staff, students, and visitors with demonstration of effective customer service. Ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity. Experience working in a customer service environment. Experience managing budgets. Experience using a database management system. Experience working in a complex environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, administrative support experience, and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Experience in a higher education environment. Knowledge of human resource management. Knowledge of a student information system and electronic procurement system. Experience writing and editing report, newsletters, and other office correspondence.
HOURS:
  8:30AM – 5:00PM.
SALARY:
  Position is in Pay Band 4. Anticipated hiring range is between $31,352 and $41,000. Actual salary will be determined based on individual qualifications and experience with consideration for internal alignment factors. The college offers an excellent benefits package.
