The warehouse specialist, in a support capacity, provides distributive, stowage, inventorying and the receipt and disposal of equipment and material services to college personnel. TCC’s warehouse is located at the college’s Suffolk site off I-664 and College Drive. |
| FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining detailed inventories of pertinent records, performing varied warehouse duties including receiving, inspecting, and inventorying agency assets, and issuing equipment, materials and supplies in accordance with defined regulations. Additional duties and responsibilities include providing support services for the college-wide physical inventory of fixed assets and utilizing defined regulations in the reconciliation of the college’s equipment inventory data. Incumbent delivers supplies and equipment as required, unloads trucks utilizing forklifts and other material handling equipment, and works closely with department heads on problems found and corrections made to inventory/assets; conducts all activities in compliance with workplace safety and health standards. As a designated essential position, the employee filling this position may be required to report to work or otherwise fulfill the responsibilities of the position in the event of a college/campus closure due to weather or other emergent condition(s). |
| REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: |

Considerable relevant knowledge of warehousing fundamentals to include receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing of agency assets; considerable knowledge of fixed asset inventory regulations and procedures. Knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to the operation of equipment and the storage of items in a warehousing environment; must have a valid driver’s license. Applicant must, both timely and accurately, have the ability to utilize basic computers in entering data into agency systems, prepare reports, and possess a general understanding of basic office practices and procedures; excellent communication skills, basic math skills and the ability to use basic hand tools. Must have the ability to safely operate motor vehicles, effectively follow oral and written instructions; ability to operate and perform preventive maintenance on electric/fuel powered forklifts, pallet mules and other material handling equipment; ability to lift at or in excess of 50lbs. |
| PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: |
| |
Knowledge of state, Virginia Community College System (VCCS), and Tidewater Community College (TCC) warehouse/inventory procedures. Additional education beyond high school with courses in accounting or business. Experience in local, state or federal warehousing disciplines preferred which includes experience with fixed asset/inventory control methodologies. Skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Forklift operator’s license. |
