TITLE:
Public Relations and Marketing Specialist II (Administrative Assistant)
CAMPUS: Portsmouth
SUMMARY:
  Public Relations and Marketing Specialist II, in a support capacity, provides an array of public relations, marketing, and office administrative services to the students, faculty, staff, and the Director of the Visual Arts Center (VAC).
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  Primary duties and responsibilities include coordinating the daily operations of the administrative office and providing support for business aspects of the Visual Arts Center, to include contracts, social media, electronic vendor orders via eVA, general fiscal accounting, office management and maintaining/disseminating communication and equipment. Additional duties and responsibilities include scheduling and managing the VAC’s scholarship program.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Experience working in a public relations/marketing environment with responsibility for providing direct service to the public; knowledge of the principles of office management including file management, finance, human resources, bookkeeping, scheduling, and creating professional business documents; demonstrated ability to use the internet, email and a variety of PC based software, including Microsoft Office applications- Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Access and communication packages. Ability to read, understand, interpret and apply policies and procedures; time and project management and the ability to handle multiple projects and activities simultaneously while providing attention to detail to remaining tasks and meet prescribed deadlines; knowledge of basic finance and accounting procedures; experience in handling/processing contracts and confidential documents/materials; demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with diverse internal/external customers and ability to present information to individuals and groups; relevant use and knowledge of automated procurement systems; ability to create class schedules and skilled in the use of student information system (SIS).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Experience in higher education environment; knowledge of college programs, registration procedures, events coordination and mission; skill in the use of PeopleSoft SIS; skill in the use of Adobe Creative Suite; skill in eVA vendor procurement system. Associate degree in Public Relations, Art, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Business, or Public Administration or equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience.
HOURS:
  8:30 – 5:00
SALARY:
  Commensurate with qualifications. Position is in Pay Band 3. The college offers a competitive salary and an excellent comprehensive benefits package.
