TITLE:
Education Support Specialist II (Testing Center Assistant Manager)
CAMPUS: Virginia Beach
SUMMARY:
  The testing center assistant manager provides academic support assistance to students, faculty, employers, and community members via comprehensive testing, assessment and training services. Additionally, incumbent provides testing to new, continuing returning students, and community patrons, as well as supports student services offices, including the Office of Admissions, Advising /Counseling Services, and the Office of Educational Accessibility.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  Primary duties and responsibilities emphasize assisting the testing center manager in coordinating, managing, and supervising the overall operations and core testing functions of the campus Comprehensive Testing Center. The assistant manager provides comprehensive oversight in administering the following standard tests: COMPASS, VPT, ASSET placement, Thinkwell Math Modules diagnostics, proctored testing in support of other colleges/universities, classroom makeup test, testing and disability services, ESL testing, computer competency test, nursing diagnostic and math test, as well as testing for forthcoming graduates. Additionally, the assistant manager will facilitate and oversee individualized computer based training, advise students on the variety and prerequisites of available tests, as well as schedule, administer, proctor, score and record/post test results. The assistant manager’s scope of practice also includes offering support to internal/external student services departments, and participating and providing assistance in registration activities and off-campus community recruiting events.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Knowledge of and experience in providing direct customer service in an automated environment; experience with Student Information Systems (SIS); experience with word processing, spreadsheets and database software; skill in operating a PC and demonstrated ability in creating reports using databases and spreadsheets; ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of assessment screening principles, measures and procedures, skill in interpreting policies, procedures, and program requirements for narrative and statistical reports and the ability to interpret and explain such to students, staff, and faculty; ability to work independently and collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff; ability to work in a high volume, fast paced, environment; knowledge of college admission procedures, and demonstrated skill in the areas of leadership, management, planning, coordinating and organizing; knowledge of state and federal policies regarding FERPA regulations and directives.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Bachelor’s degree; knowledge of PeopleSoft (SIS); experience in student development and assessment services in a higher-education environment; experience with Microsoft office suite; certification in Microsoft Office.
HOURS:
  Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 12:30pm–9:00pm; Wednesday and Friday: 8:30am-5:00pm; ability to work a flexible schedule to include at least two Saturdays a month.
SALARY:
  Commensurate with qualifications; position is in Pay Band 3. The college offers a competitive salary and an excellent comprehensive benefits package.
