TITLE:
Compliance and Safety Officer III (Safety Program Coordinator)
CAMPUS: District Administration
SUMMARY:
  This position will coordinate, manage, and audit the college’s safety program.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  The Safety Program Coordinator will manage the hazardous communications program, blood borne pathogen program, lockout tag out program, chemical hygiene program, confined space program, safety education program, the Automated External Defibrillators (AED) safety program, safety audit and inspection program, and classroom safety program. Also, this position will represent TCC with local, state, and federal agencies conducting safety inspections at multiple college facilities, collaborating with multiple internal and external college departments, and performs other safety duties as required to include assisting with the college’s fire safety program and assisting in the development of procedures for emergency response to safety incidents. This position prepares safety budgets, administrative reports, safety plans, and is the recorder for the College Safety Committee.

This position, designated as an essential position, must be able to report to work and fulfill responsibilities of the position in the event of college/campus closure due to weather or emergent conditions or declarations issued by the Governor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Knowledge of federal and state Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) codes and statutes. Knowledge of National Fire Protection Act (NFPA) fire codes and related fire safety practices and standards. Working knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command Systems (ICS) standards and practices. Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of PC-based software including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software to maintain safety databases and provide safety training. Knowledge of best practices and industry standards for safety, such as American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, develop lesson plans, and preparing and presenting safety training programs. Ability preparing and managing budgets, conducting safety inspections and investigations, preparing safety plans. Ability to collaborate and maintain positive effective working relationships with academic departments, staff, support departments, students and community organization. Ability to apply appropriate customer service techniques, use sound judgment to resolve concerns, and work independently. Ability to work varied hours and on multiple campuses, and be available for emergency recall.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Bachelor’s degree in a safety discipline or related field or equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience.

  8:30AM – 5:00PM; ability to work varied hours and on multiple campuses, and be available for emergency recall.
SALARY:
  Commensurate with qualifications. Position is in Pay Band four. The college offers a competitive salary and an excellent comprehensive benefits package.
