This grant funded position will ensure that TCC develops and maintains a professional relationship with area foster care providers, guidance counselors, and foster care youth. Assist with outreach, education, process development, and transitions acting as the first point of contact for foster care youth at TCC. Also, this position will provide customer service to the public, college personnel and student as related to program issues. |
| FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Great Expectations Coach will serve as a point of contact for transition issues for foster care youth, including but not limited to financial aid, enrollment, advising, registration, funding sources, career development, and navigating the community college environment. Also, will work with college and community partners to develop published materials to ease the transition to college and promote postsecondary opportunities within the foster care community. To maintain student data and provide student referrals to community agencies for support as necessary. |
| REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: |
| |
Working knowledge of academic requirements, career information, and college operations. Working knowledge of state and federal financial aid regulations and enrollment services processes. Experience in working with the foster care system. Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to advise students and provide a high level of customer services to student and general public. Demonstrated ability to conduct training presentations and orientation session. Demonstrated ability to work independently, and communicate effectively and in writing. Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships with Hampton Roads area foster care providers, educators, and foster care youth. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Demonstrated ability to utilize personnel computers and current software programs for data collection and the generating of reports. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience. |
| PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: |

Master’s degree. Experience working with a variety of individuals in an advisory or counseling capacity. Experience in a community college environment. |

8:30AM – 5:00PM. |

Commensurate with qualifications. Position is in Pay Band four. The College offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. FUNDING STATUS: This is a full-time, grant funded position. |
