TITLE:
Trainer and Instructor I (Lab Manager - Sciences)
CAMPUS: Chesapeake
SUMMARY:
  The Lab Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the biology labs (chemistry, physics, and geology labs as needed), on the Chesapeake campus.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining specimens, including cadavers, making solutions, growing cultures, setting out equipment for experiments, and managing student and part-time workers. Additional responsibilities include cleaning glassware and lab areas, maintaining budgets, and inventorying, ordering, and shopping for materials.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Knowledge of general biology, anatomy, and physiology; knowledge of materials and equipment used in biology; knowledge of preparation of biological media and cultures. Ability to maintain specimens, including cadavers. Skilled in science lab preparation and teaching. Ability to organize and maintain inventory of multiple laboratories. Skills in integrated office software. Ability to supervise and train personnel (i.e. work study students); ability to work cooperatively with faculty members, staff and students. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Bachelor of Science degree with coursework in Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of general chemistry, geology, and physics and the materials used in these laboratories.
HOURS:
  8:30AM – 5:00PM
SALARY:
  Commensurate with qualifications. Position is in Pay Band three. The college offers a competitive salary and an excellent comprehensive benefits package.
