The First-Year Success Manager is responsible for the oversight of the First Year Success system at the Virginia Beach Campus making sure that it is consistent with other campuses, adaptable to logistical factors at the campus, and is evaluated and improved on an ongoing basis. |
| FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The First Year Success Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating all aspects of the First Year Success system at the Virginia Beach Campus. The manager reports to the Coordinator of Support Services and is also responsible for working with the appropriate individuals in the Vice President for Student Success and Enrollment Management’s office and the First Year Success Coordinators at other campuses to ensure the First Year Success system remains consistent college-wide, data are continually and uniformly gathered and reported, and the First Year Success system programming is continually assessed to facilitate improvement and revision. |
| REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: |
| |
Knowledge of a success and retention program for first year students. Knowledge of college orientation programs; preferably in community colleges. Ability to and experience with coordination of programs to include responsibilities of project management, planning, tracking, and evaluation. Ability to interpret policies and procedures. Ability to effectively, orally and in writing, to communicate, collaborate, and maintain working relationships with faculty, staff, and a diverse student population. Ability to analyze data for assessment purposes. Ability to compile data and to generate reports in a timely manner. Ability to make oral presentations. Bachelor’s degree in counseling or education or equivalent combination of education and training that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. |
| PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: |

Experience in teaching Student Development classes and orientation activities. Experience working with complex projects that involve many constituencies and timelines. Experience in working with community college students and orientation systems. |

Commensurate with qualifications. Position is in Pay Band 5. The college offers a competitive salary and an excellent comprehensive benefits package. |
