TITLE:
Administrative and Office Specialist II (Financial Aid TeleAdvisor)
CAMPUS: District Administration
SUMMARY:
  Tidewater Community College seeks applications for 2 new Financial Aid TeleAdvisors. These part-time positions will provide detailed information to students regarding their financial aid awards, scholarships and loans. Provides information on the financial aid processes and procedures to students and/or parents. Performs necessary Student Information System (SIS) searches and security checklists before providing information to callers. Assists students having difficulty navigating the SIS to view their financial aid and loan information. Responds to e-mails that students submit asking questions about their financial aid status. Assists students in using the TCC website to access and view financial aid information.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  The Financial Aid TeleAdvisor will respond to caller’s requests for financial aid information, do research, and follow-up with callers if information is not available in SIS. In addition to telephone support, this position will provide support in response to e-mails to the Financial Aid Support Services e-mail account.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Knowledge and ability to use proper business phone etiquette. Demonstrated computer skills with database programs, word processing, and spreadsheets. Knowledge of internet and electronic e-mail. Must also possess exceptional oral and written communication skills while functioning in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in conjunction with superior customer service. Skills in proofreading.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  Knowledge of and experience using the PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) or other electronic student system. Knowledge of TCC, federal, and state aid programs. Prior financial aid, customer service, or call center experience, preferably in an education setting. Ability to comprehend and speak Spanish.
HOURS:
  Variable hours from 18 per week to 30 hours per week; Monday-Thursday 8:30AM to 6:30PM, Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM and some Saturdays 8:45AM to 1:00PM are required.
SALARY:
  $10.00 per hour part-time.
